EAD launches Trans-Alaska Pipeline System Renewal EIS Web Site
The TAPS Renewal EIS Web Site is the online center for public information and involvement for the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System Renewal Environmental Impact Statement (TAPS Renewal EIS).
EAD has launched the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System Renewal EIS Web Site, the online public information and involvement center for the Statement Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for renewal of the right-of-way for the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS). The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has selected Argonne (EAD) as the prime contractor for preparation of the TAPS Renewal EIS. BLM is the lead Federal agency in the Joint Pipeline Office (JPO), a consortium of six Federal and seven State agencies that oversee TAPS.
The TAPS Renewal EIS Web Site provides information and services to help the public participate in the EIS process. It includes information about TAPS, the EIS, public meetings, Native Alaskan consultation, and how the public can get involved in the EIS process. Other resources include documents, a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ), and news updates of important events. The public can use the site to submit comments on the EIS via a web form or by e-mail.
The web site has been designed specifically to support the current EIS scoping process, in which public comment is sought to help define the scope and focus of the EIS. The site will evolve over time to support dissemination of the Draft EIS and further public involvement activities as the EIS is completed.
Current plans call for a the Draft EIS to be published in July 2002 and Final EIS in November 2002.
