The Agreement and Grant of Right-of-Way for the Trans-Alaska Pipeline (Federal Grant) is for 30 years. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) of the U.S. Department of the Interior received an application from the current TAPS Owners to renew the Federal Grant for 30 years beyond the current expiration date.
The BLM determined that a decision to renew the Federal Grant represented a major federal action under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and identified the need to prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS). This final EIS (FEIS) evaluates the impacts associated with current TAPS operations and the positive and negative environmental, social, and economic impacts of renewing for 30 years, renewing for less than 30 years, or not renewing the Federal Grant.
